Distracted driver sentenced to prison after fatal crash

Posted under Wrongful Death

The driver who was involved in a fatal accident in Fond du Lac two years ago is expected to serve a jail sentence after she was found guilty, a June 25 article of Fond du Lac Reporter stated.

According to reports, 27-year-old Heather Cleveland testified in court on June 24, expressing her apologies to the family of Linda Trotter, 63. In 2014, Cleveland rear-ended a vehicle on State 23. The vehicle flew to the opposite side of the road and struck the vehicle driven by Trotter, who was pronounced dead at the crash scene. Court records showed that aside from using her phone while behind the wheel, Cleveland was speeding at the time of the accident. A three-year imprisonment and two-year probation sentence were imposed on Cleveland after she was found guilty in March.
