202K baby car seats in the U.S. with faulty buckles recalled

Posted under Product Liability

Infant and toddler products maker Evenflo recently complied with federal regulators in the U.S. to recall 202,000 baby car seats that are equipped with potentially faulty buckles, The New York Times reported on October 24.

According to the papers submitted to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), Evenflo recalled its “Embrace 35” rear-facing baby car seats with buckles that may potentially trap its occupants in emergency situations. The buckles used by Evenflo baby car seats reportedly were produced by Indiana-based firm AmSafe. Evenflo’s competitor Graco Children’s Products acquired the same buckles from AmSafe and was pressured to recall 1.9 million toddler car seats last summer.
