A football player for the University of Wisconsin (UW) was recently convicted for sexually assaulting a woman in Madison, the Miami Herald reported on June 19.
In a court hearing that lasted five hours, 18-year-old Dominic Cizauskas was convicted of sexual assault in the third degree. Testimonials from Cizauskas and the victim, whose name was withheld, both revealed they previously engaged in consensual sex. However, the woman said she was no longer interested in Cizauskas once she started college. Assistant District Lawyer Rachel Sattler said in court that even though the accused and the victim had a past relationship, women always have the right to refuse sex. Cizauskas’ sentence could include up to five years of jail time.
