Multinational store Walmart recently said it will improve the safety of its 2,800 stores nationwide and will pay $190,000 after inspectors found “repeat and serious” safety and health violations that endangers its employees in one of its stores in New York, a report on Wednesday, August 7 said.
Inspectors from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) said the Walmart in Rochester was cited for lack of proper training in handling hazardous materials, blocked exits, and practicing dangerous trash compactor procedures. These dangers have also previously been discovered in other Walmart stores. Dr. David Michaels said the settlement will keep thousands of Walmart employees safe and healthy in the workplace.
Despite Walmart being fined for the dangers faced by its employees in the workplace, these dangers could also affect other people in the stores or on the premises.
