A 33-year-old drunk driver was going the wrong way on Highway 41 when he collided with an oncoming car and caused everyone involved to suffer varying degrees of injuries.
The accident occurred in Appleton in the northbound lane of the highway. After the drunk driver hit the vehicle, he left the scene of the crime. There were two people injured in the struck vehicle. A 31-year-old passenger was critically injured, and had to be taken to a nearby hospital by way of helicopter. The driver of the struck vehicle received minor injuries.
Police apprehended the drunk driver moments later, and learned that he had injuries as well. He has since been charged with driving under the influence, hit-and-run, and driving with a suspended license. The investigation into the collision is still ongoing.
