A precautionary world-wide recall has been made by the German automobile company, BMW, in regards to a potential fire hazard in certain models.
BMW filed a claim about the recall with the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The problem resides with a battery cable cover that can be found in the trunk of 5 and 6 Series vehicles that were produced between 2003 and 2010. This cable cover has the ability to catch on fire, or stall the vehicle.
No injuries have currently been reported to BMW. There have been nine complaints about these defective cars, and therefore BMW announced the recall. In the United States, 367,000 vehicles are included in the recall.
