Lenovo computers recalled because of fire hazard

Posted under Product Liability

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Lenovo have announced a national recall of the Lenovo ThinkCentre computers based on evidence that they could cause fires.

The two models affected by the recall are the Lenovo ThinkCentre M70z and the M90z desktops. No injuries have been reported in the United States due to the fire hazard, but consumers have been advised to discontinue use of these models if they have one in their possession.

There are 50,500 units that are being recalled. The problem revolves around an internal error with the power system that has the potential to overheat the desktop unit. Lenovo also announced that they will replace the defective power supplies for free.
