Three women were injured in an Appleton car accident Tuesday morning.
According to officials with the Appleton Police Department, officers responded to a call of an accident in the 500 block of East Northland Avenue shortly before noon Tuesday. Police said a minivan driven by an 87 year-old woman initiated a left turn into a supermarket driveway and collided with a car in the westbound lane.
The driver of the van had to be extricated from the vehicle before she was taken to a nearby hospital. She was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way while making a turn.
The driver of the westbound car, an 18 year-old Appleton woman, and her 17 year-old female passenger, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. They were transported by ambulance to an area hospital. Police did not identify the women or distinguish the hospitals to which they were taken.
