A woman in Appleton crashed into a support beam outside a ChaseBank Monday afternoon.
According to officials with the Appleton Police Department,the woman, who was not identified, was traveling south on Memorial Drive whenshe swerved into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into the building shortlybefore 2:30 p.m. Monday. Police say the woman and a child passenger sustainedminor injuries in the accident. They were transported to an area hospital fortreatment and later released.
Investigators say they believe the woman suffered a seizurewhile driving, which caused her to lose control of her vehicle. She was citedfor a traffic violation and ordered to stay off the roads.
The Appleton Police and Fire Departments responded to thescene and worked to remove the passengers from the vehicle. Response crews alsoworked to secure the structure.
There was no estimate of damage to the bank.
