Last week, Pfizer recalled 38,000 bottles of 40 mg Lipitor. Lipitor fights high cholesterol and is the world's best selling drug.
Pfizer recalled 190,000 bottles earlier this year. Both recalls involved complaints of the product having an uncharacteristic odor. Investigators found that the smell was coming from trace amounts of a chemical used to preserve the wooden pallets used product transportation and storage.
Executives for Pfizer stated that they do not allow their products to be exposed to the chemical but fear a third-party packager may be to blame. The FDA believes that health complications related to the drug are minimal.
