A couple is facing child negligence charges for not seeking treatment for their 5 month old baby’s burn injuries until a week after the injury. The infant was burned in a bathing accident when the water heated by about 30 degrees in a few seconds.
The couple did not seek medical attention, but instead applied ointment to the burns and contacted a shaman. Finally, seven days later, the couple took the infant to the hospital. Police say a manufacturing defect caused the water to heat rapidly.
