A 9 year old boy from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania was injured by a popular M-80 firecracker. His father has had crimal charges filed against him.
The boy was left unattended with a number of fireworks well within his reach over the weekend. In addition to fireworks, the boy’s father left a cigarette lighter near them. The boy then seized an M-80 as well as the lighter and lit the firecracker while it was in his hand. The firecracker exploded in the boys hand causing a severe injury to the hand, according to the police.
The father has been charged with endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person.
