Posted under Personal Injury

A contractor from Appleton was killed in a construction accident in Kaukauna, a November 10 article reported.

According to reports, Krepline Trucking & Excavating employee Scott Krepline, 46, was killed after the trench in which he was working collapsed on top of him. The accident reportedly happened around 3:00 p.m. at the construction site of a building expansion project.

Responding officials confirmed that the trench cave-in was an accident, and OSHA officials were on the scene to investigate the circumstances. Rescuers worked for nearly four hours before they were able to recover the body, and the Outagamie County Coroner stated the Krepline succumbed to “multiple blunt force injuries” during the accident.

Reports revealed that Krepline’s father tried to uncover his son’s body before rescue crews came, and had to be removed from the situation by responding officials. Assistant Fire Chief Chad Gerrits estimated Scott’s body may have been buried for up to 30 minutes before rescuers came.
