Eight people fall ill from Listeria-contaminated Blue Bell ice cream

Posted under Product Liability

At least eight people have fallen ill in both Texas and Kansas after consuming contaminated Blue Bell ice cream that contained the dangerous bacteria Listeria, Food Safety News reported on April 9.

Reports state that all eight people ate the Blue Bell ice cream while being hospitalized at a single hospital between January 2014 and January 2015. The ice cream eaten by those who fell ill were confirmed to have Listeria monocytogenes that were linked to last month’s recalled ice cream. Just recently, Blue Bell decided to voluntarily suspended operations at their Oklahoma production facility, and also decided to expand their product recall. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has warned the public to not eat the recalled Blue Bell products.
