Approximately 273,000 aluminum-made hand trucks in the U.S. were recalled by Cosco after complaints of injuries were reported, the Consumer Product Safety Commission stated on February 25.
Reports said operators are at risk of sustaining injuries like lacerations or bruises if the wheel hub of the recalled hand trucks breaks off. The defective hand trucks were made in China between January 2009 and October 2011. Cosco has been notified of at least four injuries in the 10 incidents of wheel hubs breaking on the hand trucks. Owners of the recalled hand trucks are instructed to contact Cosco to get a repair kit at no cost.
