Toyota pays $3 million in damages to accident victims

On Thursday, October 25th, an Oklahoma County jury found Toyota Motor Corporation guilty of reckless disregard upon hearing a case about the sudden acceleration, and subsequent crash, of a Toyota Camry.

The car accident was caused by defective machinery and resulted in the injury of Jean Bookout and the death of  Barbara Schwarz. Toyota agreed to pay $1.5 million to Jean Bookout and $1.5 million to the family of Barbara Schwarz for punitive damages.
