Voluntary recall of peanut butter made by Sunland, Inc.

Posted under Product Liability

Sunland, Inc. recently made a recall of several products, including peanut butter and almond butter, due to a high risk of salmonella.

The recall came after 30 different cases of salmonella were linked to this nut-butter based product. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that more than 70 brands of this peanut butter and almond butter are sold throughout the United States in numerous retail stores.

The company responsible for the manufacturing of these defective products distributes these products to numerous retailers, including Trader Joe’s, Target, and Whole Foods. The butters involved in the recall were produced between May 1 and September 24. Sunland, Inc. is urging consumers to throw away the contaminated jars immediately, or to return them for a full refund.
