Wrong-way driver injures off-duty Wisconsin police officer

Posted under Car Accidents

A 31-year-old Milwaukee police officer was heading home after his work day when he was critically injured in a car accident involving a wrong way driver.

The accident took place last Wednesday on Interstate 94 in an eastbound lane. The police officer was heading east on the highway when a wrong way driver traveling west in the eastbound lanes collided head-on with him. The reckless driver, 23, was trapped in her vehicle, and so was the officer.

Both of the drivers were removed from their vehicles, and were taken to a local hospital to be treated. They were both listed in critical condition. The car accident caused the eastbound lanes of I-94 to be closed for four hours.
