A Delavan woman has recently been arrested and charged with her sixth operating a vehicle while intoxicated, or OWI, charge.
The 56-year-old was driving south on Highway 45 at speeds of more than 70 miles per hour in inclement weather conditions near Milwaukee. A deputy noticed that the woman slammed on her brakes when she saw his patrol car and then continued to drive erratically. The deputy tailed the woman and eventually pulled her over after she made an illegal turn.
The driver told the officer that she had stopped drinking three hours before she got behind the wheel, but she still smelled of alcohol and was unable to pass a field sobriety test. The woman was ultimately arrested and charged with an OWI. This is her sixth OWI charge; she received the other charges in 1992, 1994, 1999, 2003, and 2010.
