Starbucks responsible for slip and fall accident

Posted under Premises Liability

A customer who was injured at a Starbucks in San Diego has successfully won a slip and fall lawsuit against the company.

In 2008, a manager at a Vista Starbucks had mopped the area of the store between the cashier and the pick-up counter. The customer had just paid for his drink and was proceeding to the pick-up counter when the wet ground caused him to lose his balance and ultimately fall and hit his head.

The head injury the customer sustained caused several complications. The man was unable to return to work, as a chiropractor, due to these complications.  A jury in the case took 2 and 1/2 weeks to deem Starbucks liable for the man’s injury and reach a verdict of $7.5 million.
