Young hunters and hunting accidents

Posted on Monday, November 21st, 2011 at 5:56 pm

An analysis conducted by Gannett Wisconsin Media shows a correlation between young hunters and hunting accidents across the state of Wisconsin.

Hunting season has begun in Wisconsin and it is imperative for experienced hunters to educate young hunters on proper technique because it may save a life.

The data that was collected shows that 27 percent of all hunting-related shooting accidents that happened in the past ten years were caused by hunters who were 21-years-old or younger.

The importance of proper gun handling is key when allowing young hunters to participate in the sport, which is widely popular in Wisconsin. The hunting in Wisconsin is currently the safest it has ever been in the state.

Shooting-related incidents have been decreasing over the years but they still do happen, especially during hunting season. If you have been injured in a hunting-related accident, please contact the Appleton personal injury lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C., by calling 800-242-2874 today.

Accidents involving deer rise in Wisconsin

Posted on Monday, November 14th, 2011 at 4:42 pm

Last year across the state of Wisconsin, deer-car collisions were on the rise. This year that number is expected to grow again.

In 2010 there were 14 people in Wisconsin that were fatally injured due to a deer-related accident. There were 16,947 car accidents involving these animals last year alone. Mating season for deer begins late October and ends early December, therefore making the month of November one of the most hazardous months for these accidents to occur.

It is imperative to proceed with caution while on the road in Wisconsin this winter season. Deer travel in packs so it is safe to assume that if you come across one crossing the road, there are at least two that are bound to follow.

If you have been injured in a car accident, please contact the Appleton personal injury lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C., by calling 800-242-2874 today.

Wisconsin’s Winter Awareness Week begins today

Posted on Monday, November 7th, 2011 at 5:53 pm

Winter in Wisconsin is about to be in full force and it is important to be prepared. Wisconsin’s Winter Awareness Week begins today, November 7, and runs through the end of the week.

This focus is on winter safety. The most urgent issue being promoted this week is creating an emergency kit for motor vehicles. Hazardous driving conditions during these winter months cause a rise in collisions and accidents across the state. Preparing an emergency safety kit could save someone’s life.

The kit should have essentials including blankets, a first-aid kit and a cell phone adapter. It is also a good idea to have food that won’t expire and flashlights with extra batteries.

Car accidents can be extremely dangerous during the winter season. If you  have been involved in a car accident, please contact the Appleton personal injury lawyers of Habush Habush & Rottier, S.C., by calling 800-242-2874 today.
