A product liability lawsuit has been filed in Spring, Texas against Ford Motor Co. and Texas Instruments Inc.
According to Harris County District Court documents, Spring-residents James Wilkinson and Jeffrey Wilkinson filed the product liability lawsuit on March 25. The lawsuit claims that Ford Motor Co. and Texas Instruments are strictly liable for manufacturing and selling a defective speed control deactivation switch.
The plaintiffs claim that a fire erupted in James Wilkinson's 3,200-square-feet metal building on October 15, 2010. According to the brief, the fire was caused by a defective speed control deactivation switch in a 1997 Lincoln Town Car that was parked in the building.
The plaintiffs are asking the court for compensatory damages as well as legal fees.
