Driver in Fatal Motorcycle Crash Appears in Court

Posted on Wednesday, August 25th, 2010 at 6:21 am

A Bear Creek man jailed Tuesday in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash appeared in Appleton court Wednesday.

According to court documents, 39 year-old Saul Munguia is charged with unreasonable and imprudent speed and resisting or obstructing an officer. Court Commissioner Maureen Budiac set bond at $500 and ordered Munguia to remain sober. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 16.

Munguia was the driver of a minivan headed west on State 15 in Greenville shortly after 11:00 p.m. Tuesday which struck 30 year-old Willie Robinson as he pulled out from Lilly of the Valley Drive on his motorcycle. Robinson, who was treated by the ThedaStar helicopter crew, died at the scene of the crash.

The criminal complaint said an Outagamie County Sheriff's deputy saw Munguia sucking on a penny before giving him a breath test, which had a reading of 0.12 percent. The legal driving limit in Wisconsin is 0.08 percent.
