Can city or state governments be held liable for accidents on lakes?

by Administrator 29. January 2010 06:18

During the winter season, families and friends often go ice skating on Wisconsin's frozen lakes. In some cases, the ice may crack, causing the skaters to suffer skating and ice injuries.

Many people believe that city and state governments should be held liable for the medical expenses because the lake is public property. However, in most cases, state and city governments cannot be held liable. Governments escape liability because the law generally assumes that individuals bear responsibility for any foreseeable injuries related to ice skating.

The risk of accidents on frozen lakes and ponds

by Administrator 20. January 2010 01:25

During the winter months in Wisconsin, many of the lakes and ponds freeze over. In most cases, the sheets of ice covering these bodies of water provide a solid surface for both walking and driving.

However, even when the ice is thick, there is a risk that the ice will crack. When this occurs, both cars and pedestrians could fall through the ice and into the freezing cold water.

If you or anyone you know has been injured in a broken ice accident, contact the Appleton personal injury attorneys of Habush, Habush, & Rottier, S.C., at 800-242-2874.

The danger to drivers of falling debris

by Administrator 11. January 2010 06:14

Trucks and other large vehicles often transport materials and equipment. While these materials and equipment are usually fastened down, this does not mean that they will not fall off the vehicle.

When materials fall off a truck and cause a car accident, the debris can break through the windshield of other cars and seriously injure drivers and passengers. Truck drivers and the companies who employe them are usually held liable in these cases.

If you have been injured in a car accident due to falling debris, contact the Appleton personal injury lawyers of Habush, Habush, & Rottier, S.C., at 800-242-2874.

Which type of damages can be recovered in a car accident case?

by Administrator 4. January 2010 06:48

When individuals are injured in car accidents, they will often attempt to recover damages from the other party. The process of recovering damages typically occurs through a legal settlement or court ruling.

For personal injury claims dealing with car accidents, plaintiffs can often sue for damages related to pain and suffering, medical costs, lost wages, and rehabilitation costs. The amount and extent of these damages will depend on the facts and circumstances of the case.

How often should you check your tire air pressure?

by Administrator 4. January 2010 06:39

Drivers should check their tire air pressure at periodic intervals or whenever they believe their tires are losing air. Ensuring that a car's tires have plenty of air is an important responsibility for all drivers.

If a car's tires do not have enough air, then there is a greater chance that the driver will be involved in a car accident. The risk of car accident increases because cars without proper tire air pressures are more difficult to control.

If you or anyone you know has been involved in a car accident due to under-inflated tire air pressure, contact the Appleton car accident attorneys of Habush, Habush, & Rottier, S.C., at 800-242-2874.
