The dangers and risks assocated with thin roofs

by Administrator 28. October 2009 03:55

Cars are designed to mitigate the chance of driver and passenger injury, even in the case of serious wrecks. However, if a car is not designed properly or if it is constructed improperly, then it may fail to keep drivers and passengers safe.

For instance, most car roofs are designed to be heavy and thick. This design helps prevent the roof from crumpling in case of an accident. However, if the roof is thin and light, it may crush drivers and passengers when accidents occur.

Although government research has proven the extra safety of thick roofs, many car manufacturers still make cars with thin roofs to save on costs.

If you or anyone you know has been injured in a car accident due to a thin roof, contact the Appleton car accident attorneys of Habush, Habush, & Rottier, S.C., at 800-242-2874.

The additional punishments for hit-and-run accidents

by Administrator 23. October 2009 00:30

Each day thousands of people are involved in car accidents. In most cases, all the affected parties will pull over and exchange information. However, from time to time, one of the parties will flee the scene and not take responsibility for the accident.

This action is typically known as a hit-and-run. In most cases, the fleeing driver has committed a crime because most jurisdictions require all parties to exchange information.

If the fleeing driver is charged and convicted, the driver could have his or her license suspended or cancelled. In serious circumstances, the driver could face jail time.

The varying degrees of penalties for defamation

by Administrator 19. October 2009 06:21

Defamation is expressing something as factual when really the comment is false.

It also involves misrepresenting a fact that would be damaging to a business, product, individual, or government, and it may include expressing facts that are true but are considered private information and could cause harm.

The penalties for defamation often depend on the type of defamation. Torts of libel, such as defamation in a fixed medium, sometimes carry harsher penalties than torts of slander.
