The Trouble with Cell Phones
Life without cell phones seems unimaginable. As the world becomes more and more wireless, cellular phones help us carry on our lives as we make important calls. While the benefit of convenience is undeniable, cell phones can be very dangerous if used improperly or manufactured with defects.
Recent reports indicate that drivers who are engaged in a cell-phone conversation have reaction times comparable to drunk drivers. Those involved in emotionally charged or complicated conversation may be even more dangerous on the roads. This problem led to the introduction of hands-free devices for those who needed to speak on the phone while driving, however, studies show that it is not the holding of the phone that is the problem, it is the act of participating in a conversation.
Another issue surrounding cell phones is the danger of defectively manufactured phones. Many people take their cell phone for granted and carelessly shove it in their pocket for storage. Defective cell phones may become overheated inside of a pocket, causing the phone to explode. Although this may sound far fetched, it is much more common than you may think. Placing keys near other metal objects is also discouraged, as the metal can cause the phone to malfunction. If you suspect that your phone was improperly manufactured or that the battery of the phone may have a defect, turn it off immediately and contact the manufacturer for assistance.
While cell phones have allowed us to remain on-the-go, they have also caused many serious injuries. If you have been injured due to an issue surrounding the use of a cell phone,
