Foodborne Illnesses
Anybody who has ever had to suffered through a foodborne illness knows how terrible the experience is, however, few stop to think of the serious dangers associated with this type of illnesses. Foodborne illnesses, commonly known as food poisoning, are not always caused by toxins or poisons. Various illnesses result from the bacteria, viruses, or parasites that can contaminate food. In the United States approximately 76 million people suffer some kind of foodborne illness every year. Of this number, 325,000 people have to be hospitalized and 5,000 people die from their illnesses.
